SIS Known Issues


ISSUE:

The “Active Holds” section in the Status and Holds card in CalCentral does not always display the active (or inactive) holds correctly.

Description:  In CalCentral, the Active Holds section in the Status and Holds card on both the Student Overview page (advisor view) and the My Academics page (student view) is not reflecting the active or inactive holds correctly.

The SIS Technical Team is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Updates will be posted to this web page when the release date for the fix has been determined.

What to do:

Students will need to check with their Advisors for updated information about holds.  

Advisors may view the accurate information in Campus Solutions. From CalCentral, Advisors should click on the “Service Indicator” link, which is available from either their Advisor Dashboard or from the Student Overview page.  This link will access the Manage Service Indicators page, where the most current Holds information is displayed.

ISSUE:

Some information that displays in CalCentral for some students may not reflect the official transcript until conversions are completed in March 2017

Description:

As part of the SIS Project implementation, CalCentral is continuing the transition of sourcing data from legacy systems (e.g. BearFacts) to the new Student System (SIS Campus Solutions).  By the end of March, CalCentral will be displaying data exclusively from the new system.  Please check the Alert message at the top of any CalCentral screen, or on the CalCentral login page, for information about specific issues regarding cumulative units and enrollments.

Additionally, the records of a few individual students have been flagged as part of the data conversion process.  These student transcripts may not be immediately available.  The Office of the Registrar is working to validate these students' records. If a student has questions about requesting a transcript or an enrollment, please contact Cal Student Central.

The conversion effort is continuing and should be complete by late March 2017.

Issue:

Cumulative GPA data may be incomplete for students who participated in the Fall Program for Freshman (FPF) program due to continuing transition from legacy systems

Description:

CalCentral is in the process of updating the sourcing of historical student records. The Cumulative GPA does not include all of the student’s classes and grades for students who participated in the Fall Program for Freshman (FPF) program in 2016.

Status:

FPF units are not yet being included in the GPA calculation.  The SIS technical team is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.  

What to do:

If you feel your GPA is incorrect, please open a ticket with Cal Student Central, and the Office of the Registrar will review and process your inquiries.  Create a case in Cal Student Central at http://studentcentral.berkeley.edu/open-case

Cumulative Unit and Summer Enrollment data may be incomplete for some students due to continuing transition from legacy systems

Description:

CalCentral is in the process of updating the sourcing of historical student records. Students may be experiencing one or more of the following issues:

  1. Cumulative Units total does not include Fall 2016 classes

  2. Cumulative Units only includes UC Berkeley units

  3. Summer 2016 classes are not appearing on the Semesters card. (Note: This is only relevant for students who were admitted Fall 2016 and took one or more Summer 2016 classes.)

Issue:   

Classes with 2-part names will not display booklists from the “Textbook” link on the Semester card in CalCentral

Description:

Classes with 2-part names (e.g.  “SOC WEL” or “COG SCI”) will not display booklists from the textbook link on the  Semester card in CalCentral.  This information may be found on the Cal Student Store website on the “Textbook” page https://calstudentstore.berkeley.edu/textbook

Issue:

Students who are taking multiple sections of a Class can only see a Grade for one of the sections.

Description:

Students who are taking multiple sections of a Class can only see a Grade for one of the sections.  From the My Academics tab, both class sections will be visible in the Semesters card detail link. However, on the GPA Calculator card only one of the sections will display the grade.

ISSUE:   

Advising Notes filters are not working correctly in Chrome browser.

When attempting to use the “Filter” feature in Notes in order to limit the information displayed, any field populated for the search will result in an error.

  • alphabetically by author's name

  • alphabetically by topic

  • by priority

ISSUE:   

The “Reduce/ Cancel” Loan functionality in CalCentral is not available.

Description:

The ability for students to reduce or cancel a previously accepted loan in Cal Central is disabled until further notice.  Students may still accept a Full Loan, or reduce an “Offered” loan that has never been previously accepted.

ISSUE:

Departmental Award Entry users - please hold Summer Awards until further notice

Description:

The Summer Award process for Departmental Awards requires the development of new logic and new Item Types in order to apply the Financial Aid rules that have been established for Summer.  This functionality is expected to be available by the end of January 2017.  If you are processing Departmental Awards, please hold until notification that the functionality is available for your use.  

Please note that Summer Award processing may continue for the Graduate Division Award Types.

Financial Aid rules and logic have been defined for the Summer Award process.  This development effort for this has been scheduled.  This functionality is expected to be available by the end of March 2017.   Award Entry users will be notified when it is available.

ISSUE:

The full functionality for some eForms in the Workcenter is not available for all Advisors in CalCentral.

Some advisors are unable to access the full functionality of the WorkCenter through the link provided  in CalCentral.

The fix for this issue will be migrated to Production as part of GL7.2, scheduled for November 6.  Advisors may access the full functionality for eForms directly through Campus Solutions.

For Advisors who require access to eForms, they may navigate to them directly in Campus Solutions by logging in to https://bcsint.is.berkeley.edu and using the following Navigation path:

The “Loan to Work” and “Work to Loan” conversion process in CalCentral is not available.

ISSUE:

Class schedule sync to bCal is no longer updating entries.

Description:

There is a feature in CalCentral that allows students to sync their Class Schedule to their bConnected calendars. This feature has been creating multiple duplicate entries for some students. As of today, the automated update sync has been halted. This means that changes in Class Schedules will no longer be reflected in bCal.

What to do:

Students should monitor their Class Schedules and make any updates to their bCal entries manually.

Legacy information displays for some students in some fields in CalCentral, rather than current information

Some data fields for some students are displaying legacy (outdated) information instead of current status.  For example, Academic Level may display as “Undergrad” for a newly graduated student, or the Major(s) that display may not reflect an added or changed Major.
