October 13, 2016: Integration Announcement

Hello Campus Application Developers,

 

Here is the SIS Integrations team weekly summary of items of interest to our integration partners.

System Outage: Sunday, October 16, from 5:00 a.m. - 11 a.m.

This Sunday, October 16, SIS Project GoLive 7.1 will be released to production.  This release includes enhancements and bug fixes to existing APIs.

 

As part of the work required, there will be a system outage from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m on Sunday 10/16. During this time, all production versions of the SIS APIs will be unavailable.  Once the system comes back up, you can expect normal operations.

GL 7.1 - Sunday, 10/16

 

CMS/CS Integration

  • The Course Management System (CMS) will interface with Campus Solutions to update the SIS course catalog in real-time.

 

Student API

  • Fix bug in /academic-status that returned inconsistent information in some cases

  • Enhance the /academic-status endpoint to include all active plans (current and future) along with a date when these plans become effective.  In the event that a student does not have any active plan, the API will return the most recent inactive plan along with a status indicating completed, discontinued, etc.

 

EDODB

  • Fix a bug that caused exams with no scheduled room to be omitted from the view.

Upcoming Changes

  • Student API will be changed to return the correct Cumulative Units and Cumulative GPA as part of the /academic-status endpoint.

Top Issues Being Researched

  • The currentRegistration node of Student API is based on how SIS defines “current” term.  When SIS prepares to start a new term, a business process called “term activation” redefines “current” which may seem premature to most downstream users.   We will likely enhance the API logic to redefine “current” as the most recent term that has not yet started.
