When will the Degree Audit functionality Go Live?

Academic Advising
January 28, 2015

Decision:
Degree Audit functionality will go live in Sept 2016 for the Spring 2017 term. Other Academic Advisement components go live at a date still to be decided.

Rationale:
The smaller spring term population will reduce the impact on advisors.

Degree audit is dependent on catalog work scheduled for July 2015.  A 12+ month configuration effort is required to ensure comprehensive and robust audit functionality.

Pros:

  • Less impact on advisors due to large population of new students in fall term
  • Configuration cannot begin until the initial Campus Solutions course catalog is live, which is currently scheduled for July 2015. Going live in Spring 2017 provides adequate time for configuration. Due to the negative perception of DARS, the project team would like to ensure that the degree audit is comprehensive and robust before it is rolled out.

Cons:

  • New advising reports will not be available for new student orientation for the fall incoming class of 2016 (same as current state)
  • Additions to the curriculum must be reflected in both the legacy system (DARS) and in Campus Solutions between March 2016 and September 2016.
